Teu Le Va – New Works FIKA & J.3PK by FIKA writers and J.3PK

FIKA Writers and J.3PK present new poetry/prose and music in response to the Dawn Raid policy that affected Pacific peoples in Aotearoa/New Zealand during the 1970s. The Dawn Raid policy focussed unfairly on Pacific people and created a negative ‘overstayer’ perspective that was unjustified and long lasting. In 2021, the NZ government made a public apology in respect to Dawn Raids and its impact on Pacific people demonstrated over time.

Teu Le Va will give perspective on the ‘lived’ experience of the policy for Pacific families in Ōtautahi, Canterbury. The performance will also include additional new works by the FIKA collective.
